#TRAVEL| ROME - the city of love & dreams? travel experience

This post is 4 months overdue...please please don't judge me lol yes, i went to Rome 4 months ago, no i didnt have time to compile all my thoughts about Rome and Italy until i got back....and 4 months after.
Recently i have begun to reflect upon my time in Rome and thought it is the best time to write about it and to let the blogging community know how my experience was. As i am now more than ever involved in the blogging community and really appreciate the posts from other bloggers on things like this i decided now is the time to write this up!

(excuse my dodgey memory) ..lets commence

Upon arrival in the city of Roma (after a short 2 and a half hour flight) me and my mother was very excited yet also nervous for what this country had to offer. Maybe i get this from my mum, the complete love for all things italian. Cos of this i think our expections were so high and we was expecting the best of the best.
The weather was hot and humid but not overly hot where you could wear bikinis etc just shorts and t-shirt weather with the expection of 1 day of rainfall even though it was still very muggy.

This was the street that our apartment was on, we couldnt fault the apartment it was so clean and beautiful and the staff was so helpful. We had our own kitchen but we could also go to breakfast .. if we was up in time!!
The biggest thing we overlooked was the fact that this was not a holiday haha we was up super early to travel to the city centre and landmarks and got home pretty late!

Tip #1

In Roma wear only comfortable walking shoes!!

We was located just outside of the city centre of Rome and the area was quite rural, meaning it was mostly Italian dwellers who lived there and probably, so it seemed to me and my mother, not very appreciative of tourists. To get to the place we needed we had to get on the trams, as any more walking (and getting lost) would of given both of us a nervous breakdown.

Tip #2

Tram it! But also read up on how the tram system works
& where you can buy the tickets!

Making it to the Papal state was a mind blowing experience and for me probably the most beautiful trip of the whole journey. It's hard to explain as i am not particulary relgious but i am very spiritual and the atmosphere here brings you an inner peaceful feeling. Although we never went inside the vatican because the ques were HUGGGGGEEE and the day we went it was super hot and was nice to be outside. Im not saying i didnt expect the ques not to be huge but, me being impatient and hot, it wasnt a good mix for me that day haha

which brings me on to

Tip #3

DO NOT i repeat DO NOT hold your hands out or give eye
contact to anyone holding roses or selfie sticks

That tip will probably save you 10 euros lol! The amount of people that go around tryig to flog you something is crazy and they will come up to you and shove it into your hand, and believe if you touch it, they will charge!

This gelato is the best i have ever had to date and a think 4 euros is cheap! I kid you not when i say i had one everyday of the holiday

The Spanish steps was also a lovely place as i could have another of my Audrey Hepburn moments! Yes these are the famous steps in the film a Roman Holiday with Audrey and Gregory Peck and although there was sooooo many stairs to even get to them in the first pplace let alone the actual stairs themselves, it was nice to recreate the film in my head and be in the exact place.

The Coliseum was also one of thoe buildings that leaves you breathless for a few moments and you have to actually tell yourself you are at the place the romans were at years and years ago!!! I think its the whole history of it that awed me!

Tip #4

Take lots of photos and don't be afraid to hog the best places to get a photo!

I know sometimes when there is too many people around and we want to take a photo we can sometimes as humans get a little shy but i beg you do not do this in Rome, it seemed to me that not many people was bothered about what you was doing as they was too busy taking it all in! So do some crazy poses and photo bomb some shots ;)

Apologies for not having a lot of photos as they are still on my mothers camera, best believe we took a lot of photos!

We even visited the bio parc zoo but the animals were so undernourished and looked so so sad, i mean what zoo has 1 of each animal in an enclosure! I honestly have never been to a zoo that made me feel so angry and upset, i wouldnt really advice it!

If i was to go back to Rome i would 100% visit a more tourist area, but i have checked that of my list and i look forward to visiting different places

where to next?? any suggestions?

im thinking florence, amsterdam and prague

If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask!

Much love,
